Seth Lugo

There may still be some debate over whether Seth Lugo belongs in the bullpen or starting rotation. Whichever you prefer, he’s sure to have a major impact on the team in 2019.

I see one of several Mets projected starters going down with some sort of injury in 2019. Seth Lugo should get 10 to 12 starts in some capacity and also pitch some high leverage seventh innings in 2019.  – Steve Malik

Lugo, much like Gsellman, has been utilized as a starter and reliever. His primary 2019 role will be as an early option in the bullpen, as he looks to stay healthy and be a contribution to the major league club.- Allen Settle

Lugo was one of the few wonderful bright spots of the Mets’ 2018 season. Not only was he an outstanding replacement for Syndergaard when the latter was injured, but he proved that he is an essential member of the bullpen. I expect him to have another phenomenal season as a middle reliever in 2019. – Leen Amin

The team made the right choice moving Lugo to the bullpen last season, but he is another starting candidate and will make a few start spots when necessary. – Kevin Strauss

From excelling as the team’s “fireman,” to long relief, to spot starter – Lugo does it all in 2019. – Jason Dye

Seth Lugo will pitch primarily out of the bullpen this year and suffer a bit more than he did last year. His ERA will go up into the 3.00s. However, the ability to use him as a multi-inning threat will help his standing with the team. We may even see him used as an “opener” once or twice. – Tim Boyle

Lugo will be a great swingman and will have stats similar to 2003 Scot Shields. – Nick Scheurer

Lugo will be very important in 2019, he will become one of the biggest bullpen weapons in the National League. He’ll be the bridge to Familia and Diaz. – Mark Sales
