Matt Harvey

The Nickname: The Dark Knight of Gotham

The Review: We will never know how much impact his decision to push through his innings limit in 2015–the year he returned from Tommy John Surgery–had on his future injuries and swift decline in performance.

Mets fans will forever be grateful for 2013 and 2015, and most will not miss him. Harvey burned Shea Bridge on his way to Cincinnati.

The Pitching stats: (Mets and relief only) (please see the starter report card for his work as a starter)

  • G 4
  • IP 6.0
  • ERA 10.50
  • FIP 8.99
  • xFIP 7.41
  • WHIP 2.00
  • BABIP .263
  • K% 10.3
  • BB% 17.2
  • K-BB% -6.9
  • HR/9 3.0
  • HR/FB 20.0
  • GB% 28.6
  • LOB% 54.4

The Grade: F— (minuses for arguing against this move, refusing to be sent down, and lack of effort)

Jose Reyes (!)

The Review: Jose Reyes chipped in with an inning of relief in a blowout. He did about as expected, allowing five hits, two of which were home runs, and two walks. I honestly hope he enjoyed the experience.

The only surprise is that he “earned” a -0.2 WAR in one inning.

The Pitching stats:

  • G 1
  • IP 1
  • ERA 54.00
  • FIP 38.16
  • xFIP 20.42
  • WHIP 7.00
  • HR/9 18.0
  • WAR -0.2

The Grade: F+ (plus because this wasn’t his worst position)
