Luis Guillorme UT

The Nicknames: Junior, Hands, The Bat Whisperer

The Review: Luis Guillorme is one of my favorite players, and I am still unhappy with how he got jerked around. I wanted to watch him play shortstop instead of Reyes and Reinheimer, and never got the chance. Still have no idea why.

The offensive stats: 74 PA .209/.284/.239/.523 (FanGraphs all stats as of 9/24)

The defensive stats: UZR/150 (SS) Did not play!  (3B) -43.2  (2B) -1.7

The grade: Incomplete

Strengths: Catches everything including bats, Doesn’t strikeout (K% 4.1, BB/K 2.33)

Weaknesses: Lack of power, Lack of opportunity

Jack Reinheimer IF

The Nicknames: Who’s on Short?, JR, Jackhammer

The Review: Jack Reinheimer looked pretty good on defense, and even has the UZR/150 to back it up. His OPS might end up below Jeff McNeil’s batting average.

The offensive stats: 31 PA .143/.226/.143/.369 (FanGraphs all stats as of 9/24)

The defensive stats: UZR/150 (SS) 16.8  (3B) 33.8  (2B) NA

The grade: Incomplete

Strengths: Evidently defense

Weaknesses: Strikes out 29% of his PA, Can’t catch bats

David Wright 3B

The Nicknames: The Captain, Captain America, DWright, Mr. Met

The Review: A singular career and a singular ending, David Wright has exemplified what a player should be on and off the field.

The Offensive and Defensive Stats: unknown until 9/30

The Grade: 2018, Incomplete; career, Complete (Honorary doctorate in Sports Medicine)

Notes: Remaining questions:

  • What front office position will he take for the Mets?
  • When will the Mets retire #5 to join 41, 31, 14, 37, and 42?

Thank you, David, for doing things the Wright Way.
