Los Angeles Dodgers
One of baseball’s villains was bound to make this list. The Los Angeles Dodgers, fresh off a World Series loss less than 365 days ago, know much talent is needed to win the whole thing. If they add deGrom, besting the American League Champion could come easier.
The Dodgers haven’t played very well in 2018. Major injuries, including one to Clayton Kershaw, have dismantled them. They still have a good shot at the postseason and could go further with a pitcher like deGrom in the rotation.
The Dodgers never shy away from making big trades. Last year, it was Yu Darvish whom they added. This year, they may need yet another ace.
Despite a weakened farm system, the Dodgers still have the firepower in the minors to at least get a conversation started with the Mets.
Pitcher Walker Buehler is off the table, but everyone else should be fair game.
Outfielder Alex Verdugo is a requirement in any trade for deGrom. The Dodgers have done their best to hold onto him, but the urgency to deal their top rated farmhand may force them to make a move they don’t want.
Their number two prospect, catcher Keibert Ruiz, is another player the Mets should target. Beyond them, the talent is a little tamer and will take some extensive scouting to get right.
While the Dodgers are a possibility, they have suffered so many injuries this year that they may fall out of the race.
