Smith is pretty much a wild card right now because the range of how many games he can play is really high. he could just as easily win the starting job as he could play off the bench the whole season.
In 2017, Smith hit .198 while hitting 9 home runs in just under 50 games. Regardless of how many games he plays in, he should see a relatively large increase in his average, possibly to as high as .250 or higher.

if he comes off the bench and gets starts here and there, to total the same number of At-bats as last season, Smith should see about 10-12 home runs and 35-40 RBI’s. On the other hand, if he ends up taking time away from A-Gon and starts a lot more, he could easily reach 20-30 home runs.
