Areas for improvement?

After the Mets resigned him, there was talk about picking up another player with slightly better OBP.  Which makes sense. Because while Bruce brings a ton of power to that Mets lineup, his OBP is still a bit low at .324. It’s just slightly higher than his career average at .319. He’s a free swinger. Last year Bruce swung at 49.7% of the pitches thrown his way, 31.3% of those being out of the strike zone. Of those pitches outside of the strike zone, he makes contact 58% of the time. As opposed to when he swings at pitches inside the strike zone where he’s making contact 85% of the time.

These negative numbers are actually down a bit from his previous seasons which makes sense in regards to the slight increase in his OBP. I would love to see a season where he’s about to bump that up to maybe .400.
