Mets 2017 Season in Review: Asdrubal Cabrera

Asdrubal Cabrera was not a fan favorite in 2017, to say the least.
What stands out in most Mets fans minds about Cabrera last season is him asking to be traded, as soon as it was evident that the Mets would not be contenders. This was coming out just days before his bobblehead night at Citi Field. Commemorating that iconic bat flip that we all loved so much from the previous year. He took issue when being asked to switch positions and move down to third base. It would only later be discovered that all this midseason turmoil Cabrera created for himself, was so that the Mets would consider picking up his option for 2018. Which as we now know, they did. In the span of several days, he would learn how easy it is in New York City to go from walk-off hero to a traitor villain.
But all his negging aside, Cabrera proved on the field this year exactly why the Mets were smart to pick up his option.
