Mets 2017 season in review: Michael Conforto
By Christina Cola

Role for 2018 and contract status
We’ve already received the good news that Conforto plans to start swinging a bat again in January. The hope is that he’ll be ready by Opening Day to make his start in the outfield, and we can all pretend like last year didn’t happen.

Conforto won’t be eligible for arbitration until 2019, and free agency until 2022. I’d like to see the Mets sign him to a David Wright type of deal before free agency but only time will tell how he’ll progress upon return from his injury. He definitely has the potential to be one of those cornerstone players for the Mets for years to come. The club would be foolish to ever consider letting him spend his career anywhere else.
