How did he do?

If you’re looking at his batting average alone, Granderson didn’t have the best year for the Mets. He only hit .228. But, he managed to slug 19 home runs, finishing third behind Jay Bruce and Michael Conforto. And though he played more games than most this season, it’s worth noting that he did finish off the year with more home runs than Yoenis Cespedes. (Just two more. But still)! If you include the seven homers he hit with the Dodgers as well, Grandy had another 20+ home run season.

Those 19 homers and a stellar OPS of .815 are most likely what stood out most to the Dodgers around the trade deadline. For a team that’s already had so much going for it this year. Grandy was the piece they wanted to add a little extra pop both on and off the field. Though the rest of his season took a sharp decline once he went west. With the Dodgers, his OPS dipped to .654 and his batting average dove even further to .161. Which was just enough to, unfortunately, get him left off the World Series roster.
