Mets club history with Japanese players

Tsuyoshi Shinjo
Ah yes, the previous number 5. Unlike the last two Mets on our list, Shinjo was an outfielder for the orange and blue (and black, because it was the early 2000s). Shinjo played two seasons for the Mets, briefly departing in 2002 for a year with the Giants, before coming back home to Queens.
Of those two seasons with the Mets, 2001 was by far his better year. Batting .268 with a .725 OPS. He wouldn’t come close that again when he returned in 2003. With both of those numbers dipping to .193 and .483.
