Mets 2017 Season In Review: Wilmer Flores

Role in 2018 and contract status

Flores will be arbitration eligible again at the end of 2018. I wouldn’t say Flores is on the top of the Mets “must sign” list but there are also so many questions surrounding the team at this point that it’s hard to predict what the future will be for Flores. With a new coaching staff in place, and everyone fighting for an infield spot in Spring Training, we’ll only have a clearer outlook by September next year.

If Smith does happen to win the role at first, we’ll most likely see Flores at the hot corner again or even at second base. Most likely on days against left-handed pitchers.
