Mets: Top 5 most crushing losses of 2017
By Richard Heaton

3. April 5 vs Braves – Final Score: 3-1
It was the second game of the season, and a pitching duel for the ages between none other than Jacob deGrom and Bartolo Colon. It was his first start since leaving the Mets and one of his best as a Brave. Six strikeouts, all swinging and just one run on two hits over six innings.
DeGrom matched the two hits and six strikeouts, but over six scoreless. At the end of nine innings, both teams combined for just eight hits while tied at one. The Mets went on to lose 3-1 in 12 innings, their longest loss of the season innings wise. Fans had a chance to see some impressive pitching as both teams combined for 24 strikeouts, as well as the first Mets home run of the season, by Jay Bruce.
