The Mets will continue to receive inquiries as the trade deadline approaches. Here are three dark horse trade candidates and who each team could target

The trade deadline is less than two weeks away and the New York Mets already started the week with two clunkers against St. Louis. With each passing day, the rumors only continue to heighten around who the Mets will sell off.

The Mets drifted back to double digit games behind the second Wild Card again after Monday’s loss and Colorado’s win against the Padres. They followed that up by getting shut out on Tuesday. Not to mention, the Mets would have to pass five other teams before even getting to the Rockies. It all translates to selling some players by the time July 31 rolls around.

By now you’ve probably already heard enough Yankees and Astros rumors to last a long time. However, there are several other teams in the trade market (mostly in the American League) and the Mets have pieces that could benefit some of those teams.

That’s what this article is all about: evaluating three dark horse teams that could engage the Mets in conversations about some of their players potentially up for sale.
