If the Mets do decide to wheel and deal over the next month, here’s a look at potential price tags for each trade chip

Even after a weekend sweep over the San Francisco Giants, the needle has barely moved if at all on the Mets’ 2017 hopes. The Mets, at best, will be holding off on selling for the time being if they do start to hit a run with a fortuitous schedule directly ahead.

However, the inevitable may be just delayed until closer to the trade deadline. I’m gearing up for at least some expiring contracts to be shipped off. Most, if not all, are strong candidates to be somewhere else by Opening Day 2018 any way. It would behoove the Mets to try to get some value out of these guys in a year where contending for a playoff spot is near certainly out of the question.

With that in mind, let’s look at what the Mets should search for in deals and who are some prime candidates in potential trades.
