The Mets move forward with their draft picks.
Tuesday was day two of the MLB draft. We already spoke about the first five picks:
Now let’s take a look at the rest of Day 2 — rounds 6-10.
With the No. 187 pick, the Mets drafted RHP Marcel Renteria, a 22-year-old hailing from New Mexico State.
In 79 innings this past season, Renteria had a 4.78 ERA and a 1.41 WHIP with 86 strikeouts.
According to National Prospect Writer for D1 Baseball Frankie Piliere, the Mets have gotten a “high octane arm” with this pick. Renteria’s fastball sits between 94-97 mph — he even reached 99 mph this spring.
