Mike Piazza arrived at Mets camp on Monday… and he’s excited about this team just like we all are.
The former Met spoke with reporters and shared his thoughts on the 2017 team.
"“I’m excited about the team. I think they have some real positives, and they know how to win now, the way they came back in the last month last year. It’s exciting to watch. Hopefully they’ll get off to a better start and put themselves in a good position for the postseason again.”"
Additionally, he went on to address what’s on everyone’s mind — the health of the team.
"“It comes down to just health, the guys staying healthy, and execution, and now having a situation where they believe they can win.”"
Piazza also acknowledged how hard it is to win, and even spoke about our rivals down in D.C. Watch below to hear more of what he has to say.
Obviously it’s great to see Piazza at Mets camp working with the current team, and showing his faith in the team. In particular, he’ll be working with current catcher Travis d’Arnaud. Piazza worked with d’Arnaud last year as well when he was a guest instructor at Spring Training.
In fact, Piazza says that d’Arnaud will be a key piece in getting the Mets back to the World Series this season. It’s great that the two will get to work together again the upcoming few days.
Oh, and of course it’s always great to see the Hall of Famer and the Captain together.
I said it last year and I’ll say it again this year, it’s great to see Piazza at Spring Training. His presence will definitely have positive effect on the team. Hopefully his confidence in them, as well as any pointers he gives out, will help get this team back to the World Series.
