Matt Harvey is pitching off a mound, and his mechanics look spot on.

In just a few weeks, Mets spring training will be starting, and the excitement around the return of baseball is more and more palpable. To add to this excitement is what we’re hoping are healthy seasons for the Mets aces in the starting to rotation. A new clip of one of the Mets’ workhorses has made a lot of fans really happy.

Matt Harvey was filmed pitching indoors yesterday, and the video was shared courtesy of @MetsCiti on Twitter. The video, which we’ve embedded below, is accompanied by the caption “Smooth as silk” to describe Harvey’s effortlessly-looking delivery. We 100% agree there.

Harvey’s returning to the mound in 2017 after having his season ended early in July of last season when he was diagnosed with thoracic outlet syndrome. Harvey would need to go under the knife that same month to fix the issue, but all signs point to him being able to come back fully recovered.

Around mid-December, Harvey spoke with reporters and expressed his enthusiasm for the 2017 season, and how much he’s looking forward to getting back out there with the Mets.

A competitor like Harvey doesn’t like struggling, and in 2016, that’s exactly what happened. We noted in his season review, that he was off for most of the year, and it wasn’t something we were used to seeing. Of course, a lot of people, even Matt himself, acknowledge there was only so much he could with his pitches while he was unable to feel his fingers, so hopefully that’s all in the past.

For the Mets to succeed in 2017, they will need Harvey to stay healthy and be back to his 2015 self.
