Mets closer Jeurys Familia shut the Cubs down after loading the bases with no one out in the ninth inning

It appeared the Mets were going to let Tuesday night’s game slip away.

But Jeurys Familia escaped a bases loaded, none-out jam against the Cubs at Wrigley Field to earn his 49th consecutive save.

And the mood of #MetsTwitter flipped from downtrodden to jubilant.

Here are some of the highlights…

The great escape by Familia elicited a much different reaction from Cubs fans.

One of them texted our co-editor Michelle Ioannou to say “I HATE FAMILIAAAAAA!!!!”

Next: Do the Mets have buyers remorse regarding Bastardo?

We get it, Cubs fans. We’d hate Familia too if he was on the other end, shutting us down, and then air-humping all over our field.

In any event, Familia might actually be a magician. And the Mets just got arguably their biggest win of the year.
