In a surprise move today, the Cleveland Browns have named Paul DePodesta the chief strategy officer Per Fox Sports Ken Rosenthal via twitter. DePodesta has served as the New York Mets Vice President of Player Development and Amateur Scouting since 2010.
The Cleveland Browns released this statement from DePodesta, “Cleveland and football have always held a special place in my heart.”
“It was 20 years ago this month, after pursuing my first love of football and looking at every possible job in the NFL, that I got the biggest break I could imagine – a job offer from the American League Champion Cleveland Indians,” stated DePodesta.
DePodesta had been brought into the Mets front office with Sandy Alderson. He helped lead the Mets to the National League Pennant in 2015. He has worked football and hockey after graduating from Harvard University.
