Jay Bruce, OF, Cincinnati Reds:
Bruce is under control through 2016 and has a team option for 2017, meaning if the Mets acquired him, they would likely have to use Michael Cuddyer as a bench piece in 2016 — and that wouldn’t be a bad thing.
Just 28 years old, Bruce has rebounded this season after a brutal 2014, hitting .257/.342/.480 with 16 home runs.
Bruce’s home/road splits for his career are worrisome, but not to the point where the Mets or any other team should be scared off.
