Will Venable, OF, San Diego:

Venable, 32, is a free agent after this season and is hitting .248/.316/.392 with six home runs and 22 RBI so far this season for the Padres.

According to Jon Morosi of Fox Sports, the Mets are interested in Venable, whose triple slash against right-handers is .250/.321/.405.

Venable had a very good season in 2013, but has otherwise failed to distinguish himself as a regular in the majors. He would be better used as a bench piece, and would give the Mets a huge upgrade over the players currently on their bench. However, if acquired, the Mets would probably look to Venable as an every day guy.
