Jon Niese (3-6, 4.43 ERA) vs. Tim Lincecum (6-3, 3.29 ERA)
We know the story of Jon Niese and it hasn’t changed all year. Despite striking out a season-high eight batters against the Diamondbacks, Niese still allowed three earned runs in six innings of work, racking up the loss. He’ll hope to pick up his first win in over a month and he’ll carry his 1-3 career record against the Giants on Thursday night. Both Posey and Brandon Crawford have decent numbers against Niese, so it’ll be good for Niese to pay close attention to them.
The surprising, yet not surprising renaissance of Tim Lincecum continues in 2015. After a tumultuous last three years as a starter, Lincecum began the season with a strong showing in April into mid-May. He had a bit of a bump in his last two start, but don’t let that take away from his career numbers against the Mets: 6-1, with a 2.88 ERA, including 83 strikeouts in 72 innings.
