Leathersich made his debut, and it was against a lefty
Lefty reliever Jack Leathersich made his major league debut on Wednesday night, when he was brought in to face a left-handed batter with the game already out of reach.
It appeared that Terry Collins – who lifted Erik Goeddel to bring in Leathersich – called on Leathersich specifically to face the lefty, which is odd considering Leathersich has had reverse platoon splits throughout the majority of his minor league career.
I noted when the Mets promoted Leathersich that he is a crossover reliever, not a LOOGY. If that fact is lost on Collins, perhaps someone should remind him.
