Vic Black is going for an MRI on his neck/shoulder, writes Adam Rubin of ESPN New York.

Black, who appeared to be nearing a return from shoulder weakness that’s kept him on the disabled list all season, will now await the results of the MRI.

Black dealt with neck/shoulder issues last season, but it’s not yet clear if this is the exact same issue.

Either way, it doesn’t appear as if Black’s return will be as soon as it seemed before news of the MRI broke.

Thoughts:

The Mets’ bullpen has been fine thus far without Black, but he’s still an important late-inning piece for this team going forward.

Hopefully, Black’s MRI comes back clean and he’s able to resume his rehab assignment before too long.
