Travis d’Arnaud put his Spring Training numbers behind him

Heading into Monday’s opener, there were some who were worried about Travis d’Arnaud’s lackluster offensive Spring Training.

I wasn’t one of those worried about d’Arnaud, but it was still nice to see him deliver two hits, including a booming RBI triple off the center field wall that gave the Mets a much-needed insurance run.

Although d’Arnaud was fantastic during the second half of 2014, it’s important for him to get off to a good start this season in order to quiet his critics and cement his position as the starting catcher.

Kevin Plawecki is in Triple-A Las Vegas and is just about ready, and a prolonged slump from d’Arnaud could potentially lead to a change. Let’s hope that doesn’t happen.
