Mets Season Preview: Most likely Met to disappoint

Mets fans seem to have an infatuation for their catching prospect, but even though he finished off 2014 strong, Travis d’Arnaud has had a brutal Spring (.216, 0 HR, 5 RBI).

While we can’t complain because Josh Thole was defensively inept, d’Arnaud led the league in passed balls in 2014 and was a liability behind the plate.

And I don’t know why, but for some reason I can’t see him putting up big numbers, even though he returned from a mid-season demotion last year and was a force in the lineup. The guy was traded for a Cy Young winner, and his expectations are pretty high. But Rotowitre.com is predicting his 2015 numbers to be .249/.309/.416, and maybe it’s just me, but that doesn’t appear overly impressive. I hope he can be a major force, but…
