Mets trade Gonzalez Germen to Yankees for cash considerations
By Danny Abriano

The Mets announced Friday that they have traded RHP Gonzalez Germen to the Yankees for cash considerations.
Germen, 27, was designated for assignment on December 15 in order to make room on the 40-man roster for John Mayberry, Jr.
In 25 appearances for the Mets this past season, Germen posted a 4.75 ERA and 1.45 WHIP.
Per the Mets, this is the 15th trade between the Mets and the Yankees and the first since December of 2004.
Thoughts:
These types of dropped players for cash considerations moves happen all the time. Since it’s the Mets receiving cash considerations, though, it’ll be portrayed as a joke.
However, this trade is simply a case of a team getting something (cash considerations) for a player who was on his way out the door for nothing.
