Travis d’Arnaud has elbow injury

By Danny Abriano

Mets general manager Sandy Alderson said after Thursday’s game that Travis d’Arnaud is dealing with an elbow injury.

D’Arnaud, who is to be examined by team doctors on Friday, has not played since Tuesday.

Prior to Thursday, the Mets were being coy about what was ailing d’Arnaud. On Tuesday, it was reported that he had the flu.

Aside from the elbow injury, d’Arnaud has been impacted by a wrist injury and concussion this season.

Without knowing the severity or specificity of d’Arnuad’s elbow ailment, it’s impossible to react one way or the other.

However, if this is an issue that has been lingering, it may be fair to conclude some combination of the elbow injury and d’Arnaud’s existing wrist issue conspired to negatively impact his throwing during the second half of the season.
