The Mets (73-80) the Marlins by the score of 4-3 on Wednesday night at Citi Field.

Game Recap:

The Marlins took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first with the help of the BABIP God’s. After a few seeing eye hits and a wild pitch made it 1-0, Garrett Jones dribbled a grounder back toward the mound that resulted in an RBI single and a 2-0 lead for Miami.

Miami extended their lead to 3-0 in the second, when a Donovan Solano flare snuck past the outstretched glove of Lucas Duda to drive in Christian Yelich.

With two outs in the fifth, Lucas Duda roped a two-run single to center that drew the Mets within 3-2.

In the top of the seventh, the Marlins increased their lead to 4-2 when Christian Yelich drove an RBI double just beyond the reach of center fielder Kirk Nieuwenhuis.

An RBI ground out by Curtis Granderson got the Mets within 4-3 in the eighth, but they weren’t able to muster anything else as they dropped the finale of their three-game series against the Marlins.

Highlights:

  • Dillon Gee rebounded after a rough first inning and wound up allowing 3 runs in 6.2 innings of work.
  • Lucas Duda delivered a 2-run single in the fifth.
