Game Recap: Mets top Braves 4-1 for fourth straight win

The Mets took their third straight game from the Braves and fourth straight overall, winning by the score of 4-1 on Wednesday night at Citi Field.

Game Recap:

The Mets took a 1-0 lead in the first when Lucas Duda singled home Daniel Murphy, who had doubled earlier in the inning.

In the top of the sixth, Ervin Santana reached on an infield single and B.J. Upton hit a two-out RBI double to center field as the Braves tied the game, 1-1.

David Wright led off the bottom of the seventh with a hustle double, and came around to score the go-ahead run on a Kirk Nieuwenhuis sacrifice fly. With two outs in the inning, Travis d’Arnaud smoked a two-run homer to left to increase New York’s lead to 4-1.

Vic Black relieved Dillon Gee with runners on second and none out in the eighth, but escaped the jam.

In the ninth, Jenrry Mejia allowed two runners to reach but held the Braves scoreless as the Mets closed out the victory.


  • Dillon Gee was tremendous in his first start back from the disabled list, tossing seven innings of one-run ball. He allowed six hits, walked one and struck out four.
  • Lucas Duda continued to hit, ripping an RBI single in the first inning.
  • Kirk Nieuwenhuis hit a go-ahead sacrifice fly.
  • Travis d’Arnaud hit a long two-run homer in the seventh.

Next Up:

The Mets go for the four-game sweep of the Braves on Thursday at Citi Field. Bartolo Colon gets the start for the Mets, opposed by Aaron Harang for Atlanta.
