Rafael Montero tossed five innings in Triple-A Thursday

Rafael Montero made his fifth start of the season for Triple-A Las Vegas on Thursday night, and was stellar until hitting a bump in the sixth inning.

While sitting in the low 90s with his fastball and mixing in his secondary offerings, Montero held Tacoma (Seattle’s Triple-A affiliate) scoreless until there were two outs in the sixth inning.

It was then, that Montero served up a three-run homer to former Yankees top prospect Jesus Montero.

Overall, Montero gave up three runs on six hits in six innings of work. He walked two and struck out three. Montero tossed 93 pitches (54 strikes). His ERA for the season is at 3.95.

The 51s play the second game of their four-game set with Tacoma on Friday night at 10:05 PM ET. Noah Syndergaard will be on the hill for Las Vegas, making his fifth start of the season.
