The Mets lost to the Cardinals 3-0 at Citi Field on Tuesday night in the second game of a four-game set.

The game remained 2-0 St. Louis until the top of the ninth, when they scored an insurance run off Jose Valverde to take a 3-0 lead and close out the scoring.
- Dillon Gee got the start for the Mets and allowed two runs on six hits in six innings pitched. He walked two and struck out four.
- Eric Young, Jr., Daniel Murphy, Chris Young, and Lucas Duda each tallied a hit for the Mets, who had only four hits on the night.
- Gonzalez Germen tossed two scoreless innings in relief.
- Jose Valverde gave up a run on a walk and a hit in the ninth.
