Rafael Montero tosssed 6.1 stellar innings for Las Vegas on Sunday

Rafael Montero started for Triple-A Las Vegas on Sunday afternoon and turned in another stellar performance.

Montero held Fresno without a hit until he allowed a leadoff double in the sixth and tossed 6 1/3 innings overall. His line: 6.1 innings pitched, two runs on two hits, two walks and four strikeouts.

Montero’s season ERA stands at 2.60.

Las Vegas won the game 10-4 to move to 8-3 on the season.

Also notable Sunday for Las Vegas:

  • Chris Young began a rehab assignment and came out scorching. He went 5 for 5 with two homers. Young is eligible to return from the disabled list on April 18.
  • Wilmer Flores continues to start at shortstop. He made a fielding error there Sunday on a relatively routine play. At the plate, he went 1 for 5.
