Vic Black to DL in Vegas, should return later this week

By Danny Abriano

Vic Black, currently pitching for Triple-A Las Vegas, has been placed on the 7-day disabled list with a pinched nerve in his neck.

However, the injury is believed to be minor, and Black is expected to be activated from the disabled list later in the week.

According to Adam Rubin of ESPN New York, this is a new injury for Black – meaning that his poor performance during spring training isn’t to blame for it.

Rubin noted that Black has already resumed throwing.

This is a minor setback for Black, but with him expected to return before the week is over, it should be nothing more than a blip.

Black was expected to be a late-inning piece for the Mets in the bullpen this year, and is still highly thought of.

As soon as Black returns and shows improved control, he should be on the fast track back to Queens.
