According to multiple reports, the Astros have signed infielder Cesar Izturis to a minor league deal with an invite to spring training.

Izturis, who turns 34 in February, was linked to the Mets earlier this offseason as a backup infielder option.
Izturis had a triple slash .209/.259/.271 in 149 plate appearances for the Reds last season, and hasn’t posted an OBP above .300 since 2008.
Thoughts:
I’m glad the Mets passed on Izturis. He was once serviceable, but isn’t serviceable any longer.
If the Mets sign Stephen Drew, their backup middle infielder will likely be Ruben Tejada.
If the Mets don’t sign Drew, they can either roll with Wilfredo Tovar (who pretty much only brings defense at this point), or sign another infielder to a deal similar to the one Izturis recently signed.
There aren’t many options out there, but Izturis wasn’t the one to go with.
