Rising Apple Report, Ep. 42 – Looming 40-Man Decisions & Potential Roster Improvements: Live at 6:30 PM EST

The Rising Apple Report airs its 42nd episode tonight at 6:30! Both myself and Rich Sparago return to the show, joined by special guest Maggie Wiggin of MetsBlog.com.

As she’s relatively new to MetsBlog, we’ll ask Maggie about her blogging background and how she got herself where she is now. In addition, we’ll talk about the statistical leanings in her writing – what she looks for in evaluating hitters and pitchers.
After that, we’ll be looking at some of the decisions Sandy Alderson and the Mets front office will need to make to improve the team this winter, What positions should they look to improve, and what are some ways they can do so?
A potential issue heading into the winter is the 40-man roster. Though spots will open up as players leave via free agency, they’ll be occupied by players currently on the 60-day DL (who don’t currently count toward the 40), leaving the roster at 40 before any acquisitions or Rule 5 protections. Who is most likely to be removed, and who would be at risk of getting claimed by another team if they were unprotected?
All this tonight at 6:30!
