The Binghamton Mets Will Not Be Moving

There were whispers over the last year – and some erroneous reports – that the Mets’ AA affiliate in Binghamton would be moving to Ottawa for the 2015 season. According to Adam Rubin of ESPN New York, that potential move is no longer a possibility:
"The long-reported potential move of the Double-A Binghamton Mets to Ottawa has received what appears to be its final death knell. Ottawa’s Finance and Economic Development Committee has shifted its attention from a prospective Double-A team to an independent league team, according to a published report in Canada."
According to the report Rubin cites, the AA bid has been rejected by Ottawa – ending the speculation that had been surrounding the Binghamton Mets and Ottawa for the last year.

Binghamton, which plays in the Eastern League, has been the Mets’ AA affiliate since 1992.
