Rising Apple Report Episode 38: Four More and No More

The Rising Apple Report returns for its 38th episode on the final Wednesday of the regular season. I will host for the second consecutive week, and I am joined by RA Report regulars Sam Maxwell and Rich Sparago for 30 of the Metsiest minutes of your week (or, for those playing at home, the amount of time it takes for Daisuke Matsuzaka to throw six pitches).

With four games remaining at home against the Milwaukee Brewers, the big question seems to be whether or not the Mets will get a protected draft pick in next year’s draft. Whether or not they do could have implications in free agency, so we’ll be sure to discuss whether or not it could or should impact the Mets’ offseason plans. Also, with news that Jonathon Niese may not start the final game of the season and that Zack Wheeler was shut down with shoulder discomfort, we’ll investigate how important starting pitching will be on Sandy Alderson’s shopping list (including rumors of Reds pitcher Bronson Arroyo showing interest in these Mets).
The Rising Apple Writers weighed in this week on Terry Collins‘ likely extension, and with a varying array of opinions represented here we can discuss the merits and demerits of Collins’ Mets tenure.
Also, with the season winding down, we’ll look at some of our favorite memories of the 2013 season, and look into the playoffs which begin next week.
So join us at 6:30 for the 38th edition of the Rising Apple Report!
