Savannah Sand Gnats Win Game Three With 6-0 White Washing Of The Hagerstown Suns
Savannah’s Grayson Stadium played host to Game Three of the South Atlantic League Championship Series. Back in front of the home crowd, the Sand Gnats gave their fans plenty to cheer. Through six full innings, they held a 6-0 lead over the Hagerstown Suns.

Runs batted in by left fielder Stefan Sabol and Jeff Reynolds gave the Gnats a 2-0 lead after two. The pair teamed up again with an RBI triple by Sabol and another RBI single by Jeff Reynolds giving Savannah a 4-0 lead after four. In the fifth inning, Maikis De La Cruz delivered the Gnats fifth run with a sac-fly, and in the sixth inning, their sixth run came via Jeff Reynolds’ third RBI of the game.
Hagerstown Suns starter Kylin Turnbull pitched five innings and faced three batters in the sixth. He was charged with all six runs and the loss. He allowed nine hits, walked two and struck out three before being relieved by Bryan Harper.
Gabriel Ynoa climbed the hill for Savannah and pitched brilliantly in gaining the victory – his second of the post-season. Through seven innings, he kept Hagerstown scoreless on just four hits and one walk, while striking out five. Jeurys Familia entered the game in the eighth inning and struck out two. Estarlin Morel was tasked with pitching the ninth inning, and successfully closed out Savannah’s combined five-hit shutout.
Third baseman Jeff Reynolds was 3 for 3, with three runs batted in. Right fielder Maikis De La Cruz now has five RBI in three games. Center fielder Brandon Nimmo finally collected his first hit of the series. He was 1 for 4 in the game, and is 1 for 10 in the series.
The Savannah Sand Gnats now lead the Hagerstown Suns in this best of five series two games to one. Games Four is scheduled for Friday evening. Steven Matz, who previously pitched a first round masterpiece over Augusta will take the mound against the Suns.
Game Five if necessary, will be played in Grayson Stadium.
