Amazin’ Look Back – 8/24/1973: Mets Blank Giants in 10

Tonight at Shea Stadium, in front of over 35,000 fans, the Mets took on the Giants in the first game of a three game series.

The pitchers duel between Jerry Koosman and Juan Marichal didn’t disappoint. Both Koosman and Marichal went the full 10 innings, as the Mets blanked the Giants 1-0 to up their record t0 58-68.
With Kossman and Marichal putting up zeroes, the game went into the 10th inning scoreless. In the top half of the frame, Koosman walked around a leadoff walk while keeping the Giants off the board.
In the bottom of the inning, Ken Boswell led off with a single before being bunted over to second base by Willie Mays. With 1 out and Boswell on second base, Felix Millan singled to left field to drive in Boswell with the winning run.
