In a battle between starting pitchers Jerry Koosman and Claude Osteen, the game remained scoreless until the bottom of the eighth.

After Davey Lopes tripled with one out, Manny Mota followed with a single that drove in Lopes to give the Dodgers a 1-0 lead.

In the Mets’ half of the ninth, Jim Beauchamp walked with one out, but Felix Millan hit into a double play that ended the game and gave the Dodgers a series split.  The Mets fell to 51-61 for the season.
