With Jerry Koosman on the hill for the Mets and Ron Schueler opposing him for Atlanta (they both went the full nine innings), the game remained scoreless until the top of the seventh.  It was then, that the Braves broke through for two runs.  With two outs and Dusty Baker on base, Dick Dietz hit a two run homer to put Atlanta on top 2-0.

After going down quietly in the seventh and eighth, the Mets had a rally going in the bottom of the ninth, with runners on first and second and two outs.  However, Ken Boswell flew out to center field to end the game.
