The following is a report from Senior Writer Michael Lecolant on the Mets AAA farmclub.

Monday evening in Fresno, California, Josh Satin continued his hot hitting in game one of a four game series against the Grizzlies, going three for four at the plate, with an RBI. With the score tied 3-3, Satin led off the top of the ninth inning with a double, then came around to score on Jamie Hoffmann‘s RBI single, to help the 51’s claim a 4-3 victory over the Grizzlies. Jeurys Familia was charged with closing the door, and successfully earned his first save of the season.

Las Vegas staked starting pitcher Darin Gorski to an early 2-0 first inning lead. Juan Lagares led the game off with a bunt single. Omar Quintanilla followed with a single. Lagares later scored when Wilmer Flores bounced into a fielder’s choice. And Omar crossed the plate on Andrew Brown‘s triple.

Fresno tied the game at 2-2 with a pair of runs in the third inning. In the fifth, a throwing error by Andrew Brown allowed the Grizzlies to take a 3-2 lead. But Las Vegas tied the game again at 3-3 in the sixth inning when Travis d’Arnaud led off with a double, and scored on Josh Satin’s RBI single.

Even though Las Vegas had ten hits against Fresno pitching, the 51’s were three for thirteen with runners in scoring position.

Darin Gorski labored through five innings pitched. He surrendered three runs (two earned) on five hits, while walking four batters, and striking out three. Greg PeaveyJustin Hampson, and Jeurys Familia combined on four innings, allowed five hits, walked none, and fanned two. Justin Hampson was credited with the win.

The Las Vegas 51’s are off to a 4-1 start this season.

Tonight in game two, Zack Wheeler heads to the hill for his second start of the season. He will be opposed by Fresno’s Yusmeiro Petit.
