On Thursday, March 14, I traveled down to Jay Goldberg’s Bergino Baseball Clubhouse on 11th Street off of Broadway in Manhattan.
The Clubhouse had a very special guest on this evening. Ira Berkow, the Pulitzer-Prize winning New York Times Columnist whose books include Rockin’ Steady: A Guide to Basketball and Cool and The Gospel According to Casey, has recently released Summers at Shea: Tom Seaver Loses his Overcoat and Other Mets Stories.
In the conclusion, Ira details his journey with Ron Darling as they drove out to Shea for Game 7 of the ’86 series. He also briefly tells a funny Michael Jordan tale before yielding to Metsian questions from the audience.
