Matt Eddy of Baseball America reported that the Mets have signed outfielders Corey Patterson and Mike Wilson to minor league deals.

Wilson, 29, hit .148 over 28 plate appearances for the Mariners in 2011 in what was his only major league duty.

Patterson, 33, last played in the big leagues in 2011 when he hit a combined .239 for Toronto and St. Louis.

With Kirk Nieuwenhuis, Collin Cowgill, Lucas Duda, Andrew Brown, Mike Baxter, Marlon Byrd, and Matt den Dekker all vying for spots on the roster – and the potential that the Mets still may sign Michael Bourn, it’s highly unlikely either Patterson or Wilson will make the big league roster.

UPDATE: Adam Rubin just tweeted that both Patterson and Wilson will head directly to minor league camp, and will likely join AAA Las Vegas once the season begins.
