Earlier this morning, espnNewYork.com writer, Adam Rubin confirmed Mets GM Sandy Alderson told ESPN’s Jim Bowden he will be taking a second look at free agent reliever Brian Wilson.

When Sandy Alderson last observed Brian Wilson earlier in January during what was termed a private workout, the pitcher did not impress.  Brian Wilson underwent Tommy John surgery back in April of last year.  He threw twenty one pitches during the workout.  When Sandy Alderson was recently interviewed by Mike Francesa, and offered his State of the Mets Address,  he characterized Wilson’s performance as completely lacking velocity.

Sandy Alderson was only willing to offer the pitcher a minor league deal then, and certainly nothing guaranteed.  After a second look, perhaps the GM’s opinion of Brian Wilson might change.  His possible return to the S.F. Giants still can not be ruled out.  And ESPN’s Jim Bowden believes the Tigers should have interest in the reliever’s services as well.

The Mets?  They have absolutely nothing to lose by kicking the tires, do they?  Stay tuned to Rising Apple for updates.
