New Playoff System To Be Announced Shortly

Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports tweeted today that the MLB has approved and is close to finalizing a 10-team playoff system that will begin this season. That means two wild card teams from each league. Had the system been in effect for the last 25 years, the Mets would have made the playoffs 13 times — every year from 1984-90 as well as ’97, ’99, 2000, ’06, ’07 and ’08. Instead, they’ve made the playoffs five times in that span.
Just something to ponder.
