Dale Thayer is a Free Man

The journey will continue for the journeyman reliever. Dale Thayer was granted his free agency today, after spending the 2011 season with the Mets. The right-hander enjoyed a very solid 10.3 innings with the team, posting a 3.48 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, and walk-less campaign. Thayer also owned a dominant 2.66 ERA, 0.97 WHIP, and 4.40 K/BB in 71 innings at Triple-A for the Mets.
I’m sure Sandy Alderson will attempt to re-sign Thayer to a Minor League deal, but given his moderate success, there’s a slight chance some team out there might provide the 30 year-old with a better shot at making the big league club out of Spring Training.
