Close, but no cigar (or win). The Mets and Reds brought a tied ball-game into the thirteenth inning, only to be “spoiled” by a Drew Stubbs RBI-sacrifice bunt.

The Mets received a good final outing from Chris Capuano, who hurled six innings, giving-up five hits, three earned-runs, one walk, and nine strikeouts. Manny Acosta and Bobby Parnell were the culprit, surrendering the run that pushed the game into extras. Four innings later, Dale Thayer was saddled with the loss.

With the exception of Jose Reyes, Ruben Tejada, and Josh Thole, the Mets offense looked pretty stagnant. Reyes went 3-6 with two homeruns, and his thirty-ninth stolen base.

The loss drops the Mets to 76-85 on the season. There’s just one game left.
