Game 141 Recap: Mets Shutout Marlins, 1-0

After Parnell almost blew last game, Terry Collins went in a different direction for the save last night–and it worked. Manny Acosta saved his first game of the season, but most of the credit should go to R.A. Dickey for his brilliant seven innings. Dickey limited the Marlins to just four hits, three walks, and zero runs. He also had three strikeouts. Josh Stinson pitched a scoreless inning in relief of Dickey in the eighth, bridging the gap to Acosta.
While the Mets only scored one run, thanks to all the stellar pitching, it was all that was needed. The Mets hitters collected five hits, including doubles by Jason Bay and Lucas Duda. Duda’s double was responsible for the team’s sole RBI of the night.
The win was completely clean, however. The Mets again endured trouble in the field, including an error by David Wright and Ruben Tejada.
Regardless, a win is a win–and this one bumped the Mets up to 70-71.
